How to Apply

The admission process consists of three stages: application, selection, and enrollment.

The Program application must be done through the Department of Postgraduate Studies (VIPO in Spanish) and submit [via a single Name_Surname.zip file, for example Oscar_Vasquez.zip, to the email: mcii@usach.cl , subject: Application 1_Sem_2024]:

  • Application form, with all the information and documentation required.
  • Two recommendations from professors or professionals who have a postgraduate degree, validating that the applicant possesses the conditions and attributes to be admitted into the program. 
  • Certificates of academic degrees and degrees obtained , or legalized copies of these documents.
  • Academic transcript of undergraduate courses, including failed courses, the timing in which they were coursed, indicating the minimum passing grade.
  • Verify a basic level of English in reading and writing of at least a B1 level of English in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​or its equivalent.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Motivation letter.
  • Resume.
  • Thesis research proposal, sponsored by a full professor of the program.

The same requirements apply for international and Chilean students; however, certificates must be authenticated following the procedures established by the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

The selection process will be based on each applicant's background (grade point average equal to or higher than 5.0 and no more than 3 failures), a personal interview if necessary, and the Thesis Research proposal submitted by the applicant.

The Program Committee will analyze the academic background and will present a list of the accepted and rejected applicants. This analysis is based on the criteria of the applicant's academic background 60% [Average Undergraduate (40%), Undergraduate Ranking (15%) and Time to graduation (5%)] and their academic and / or professional career 40% [Activities (25%), Letter of Motivation (15%)].

These criteria are evaluated on a scoring scale that ranges from 0 to 5 points, considering the following definition:

EXCELLENT –5 points– The application meets / addresses in an outstanding way all the relevant aspects of the criteria in question. Any weakness is very minor.

VERY GOOD –4 points– The application meets / addresses the criteria in a very good way, even though certain improvements are possible.

GOOD –3 points– The application meets / addresses the criteria in a good way, although it requires certain improvements.

REGULAR –2 points– The application meets / addresses in general terms the aspects of the criterion, but there are important deficiencies.

POOR –1 point– The application does not adequately meet / address the criteria aspects or there are serious inherent deficiencies.

DOES NOT QUALIFY –0 points– The application does not meet / address the criteria under analysis or cannot be evaluated due to a lack of background or incomplete information.
